A special Summer Holiday Family activity day responding to themes of the exhibition – Anne Desmet Kaleidoscope: London.

Explore and create with workshop activities led by artist Lorraine McCourt. Try your hand at printmaking with handmade stamps to create geometric patterns, make your own Kaleidoscopes or SKY Window inspired collages.

Award-winning poet and storyteller Shamim Azad will conduct storytelling sessions by exploring the theme of kaleidoscopes. Through a range of characters and storylines, she will share a special story. Shamim will encourage participants to create their own stories with a ‘Story Kaleidoscope activity' through a range of diverse objects and symbols. This will encourage participants to use their imagination to navigate stories in different ways just like the wonderful artworks of Anne Desmet.

  • 11am to 4pm: Hands-on craft making workshops (Lower Gallery)
  • 11.30 am to 12.15am and 2.30pm to 3.15pm: Storytelling by Shamim Azad (Main Gallery)

A story corner with soft cushions, costumes, and soft play building bricks will also be available.

Plan to make a day of it - bring a picnic lunch to have in Guildhall Yard, or eat nearby.

This event is for children aged 3-13 and their families, and it is not suitable for individual adults. The activities are free but booking is advised.
