Uncovering the archaeology of north-west Londinium

The destruction caused by the Second World War gave archaeologists an opportunity to start exploring this little understood part of the Roman city. Excavations have revealed a vibrant area, once crowded with gladiators, soldiers, and craftspeople.

Explore this rich history with archaeologist Dr Andrew Lane

Starting in the Amphitheatre, this guided tour also visits part of the Roman city wall, before finishing in the rarely accessible remains of the Roman Fort Gate, preserved beneath London Wall (approximately 10 minutes’ walk from Guildhall Art Gallery, where the Amphitheatre is located).

The tour will take place at 11am and 2pm, and will last for approximately 1.5 hours.
