Live performances at Keats House
Eliza Jane Chester and Fanny Keats: Live performances at Keats House
To accompany our exhibition ‘Hidden Histories of Keats House’, which looks at the lives of those people who lived in the house, we are delighted to have two performances featuring the characters of Eliza Jane Chester and Fanny Keats.
Eliza Jane Chester performance
Sunday 17 November, repeated throughout the day. Included with an admission ticket to the house. No booking required. Approximate timings: 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
Eliza Chester was a famous actress and it was because of her that the two original semi-detached houses became one. The layout is still the same today. She removed a staircase, repositioned doors, built a new room for entertaining – the Chester Room – and added stables. Come along to meet her and hear more about her life.
Fanny Keats performance
Sunday 1 December, repeated throughout the day. Included with an admission ticket to the house. No booking required. Approximate timings: 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
Fanny Keats was John Keats’s younger sister, and she lived in one side of the house with her husband after his death. In this performance we will hear more about her relationship with her brother and her life at the house.
