Join Shoe Lane Library and Josh Davis for his talk Surveilling the City: Ethics, Crime Detection, and the Accuracy of Artificial Intelligence Driven-Face Recognition Technology and Human Super-Recognisers.

The UK has seen substantial increases in the use of Artificial Intelligence driven Face Recognition Technology (AI-FRT). However, use by police forces has been dwarfed by use in retail. AI-FRT never sleeps, while its ever-improving accuracy surpasses the typical face recognition ability of most humans. But no human-made machine will ever be error free. Could pooling the exceptional abilities of human super-recognisers with AI-FRT generate higher levels of accuracy and decrease the risk of legal injustices?
