Join Shoe Lane Library and Lester Hillman for a talk on the secret surrounding the Clerks Well in London.

Lost to time, the Clerk's Well resurfaced a century ago in 1924, unveiling a history dating back to 1174, chronicled in a City Survey from 850 years ago. Nestled along the banks of the River of Wells, also known as the Fleet River, this ancient site witnessed the enchanting spectacle of Medieval Mystery plays performed before King Richard II on this very day in 1390.

Drawing from his extensive experience in water-related projects spanning decades, our speaker, Lester Hillman, invites you to explore the dramatic narratives surrounding this remarkable well. As a distinguished member of the City of London Guide Lecturers Association and a former lecturer at London Metropolitan University, Hillman brings expertise to illuminate the fascinating tales concealed within the depths of the Clerk's Well.

This event will be delivered both in-person and online. To book an in-person ticket, please visit our in person booking page. To book an online ticket, please click on Book Tickets.
