Plan your citizenship ceremony

If your application to become a British Citizen is accepted you’ll be invited to a citizenship ceremony by your local council. This is the last step in becoming a British Citizen.

Everyone aged over 18 who is accepted to become a British Citizen is required to attend a ceremony to finalise their citizenship. Islington Council handles citizenship ceremonies for the City of London. Visit the Islington Nationality and Citizenship web page to find out more.
