Certificates in Digital
Funded by the Greater London Authority (GLA), the City of London Corporation's Adult Skills and Education Service is proud to offer Level 3 Certificates in Digital. These programs are designed to equip individuals with advanced digital competencies, enhancing their career trajectories and enabling them to deliver greater value to their organisations.
The current programs on offer include:
Qualification Content, Structure and Outcomes
This qualification is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to enter a job role within the digital workforce area, such as a data technician.
Commencing 24 February (will run for ten weeks)
Successful enrolment on all courses is subject to an initial assessment. Assessments will take place week commencing 17 February.
In-person days: Mondays
Location: Guildhall West Wing, London, EC2V 7HH
Online days: Tuesdays and Fridays (you will require a laptop and internet access to complete this course)
Time: 10am - 3.30pm
This qualification aims to:
- focus on the study of data in the digital sector
- offer breadth and depth of study
- provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical skills
By completing this training, you will:
- understand how to source data
- collate and format data for processing and analysis
- analyse data to support business outcomes
- present and communicate data to the appropriate audience
- store, manage and distribute data securely
- collaborate with others and practise continuous professional development
To achieve this qualification, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes of the units.
Unit titles/topics:

- using social media in business
Assessment
This qualification consists of an assessed portfolio of evidence, which is assessed by our Internal quality assurance (IQA) and externally quality assured by NCFE.

Qualification Content, Structure and Outcomes
This qualification is designed for learners who want to increase their knowledge, skills and understanding of coding. Successful completion of the required units will allow the learner to develop in-depth knowledge, skills and understanding of coding practices. It will also support progression into relevant employment and further study in coding.
Commencing 28 April (will run for ten weeks)
Successful enrolment on all courses is subject to an initial assessment. Assessments will take place week commencing 14 April.
In-person days: Tuesdays
Location: Guildhall West Wing, London, EC2V 7HH
Online days: Mondays and Wednesdays (you will require a laptop and internet access to complete this course)
Time: 10am - 3.30pm
This qualification aims to:
- focus on the study of coding, within the Information and Communication Technology sector
- offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
- provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.
The objectives of this qualification are to enable learners to:
- understand the stages of the software development lifecycle, software methodologies and how working as a team contributes to effective software delivery
- understand the purpose and use of coding standards, coding principles and practices and coding design processes
- write and debug interpreted and compiled code distinguishing the different coding solutions
- fix bugs using appropriate techniques and reflect on how bugs can be prevented
- understand deployment, configuration management and version control systems.
To achieve this qualification, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes of the units.

Assessment
This qualification consists of an assessed portfolio of evidence, which is assessed by our Internal quality assurance (IQA) and externally quality assured by NCFE.
Progression Opportunities
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to the following:
- Level 4 Certificate in IT
- Level 4 Diploma in Software Development.
Qualification Content, Structure and Outcomes
This qualification is designed to provide learners with knowledge and skills relating to cyber security practices. It will provide the learner with a chance to develop knowledge and learn practical skills which can be used to seek employment or proceed into study at a higher level.
Commencing 1st May (will run for eleven weeks)
Successful enrolment on all courses is subject to an initial assessment. Assessments will take place week commencing 14 April.
In-person days: Thursday
Location: Guildhall West Wing, London, EC2V 7HH
Online days: Fridays (you will require a laptop and internet access to complete this course)
Time: 9.30am - 3.30pm
This qualification aims to:
- focus on the study of the practices within cyber security
- offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
- provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical skills.
The objectives of this qualification are to enable learners to:
- provide the learner with an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills relating to cyber security practices.
To achieve this qualification, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes of the units.

- Understand Cyber Security Principles
- Understand Threat intelligence in Cyber Security
- Cyber Security Testing, Vulnerabilities and Controls
- Cyber Security Incident Response
- Understand legislation and ethical conduct within cyber security
- Professional Skills and Behaviours for Cyber Security
Assessment
This qualification consists of an assessed portfolio of evidence, which is assessed by our Internal quality assurance (IQA) and externally quality assured by NCFE.

- Level 4 Diploma in Cyber Security
- Level 4 Certificate for IT Professionals
- Level 4 Certificate in Information and Cyber Security Foundations
- Level 4 Certificate in Cyber Security and Intrusion for Business
Eligibility Criteria
- Level 1 English or above
- Basic computer skills
- Aged 19+ as of 31st August 2024
- 3 years residency in the UK
Level 3 Status:
Primarily the participant should not have a previous Full Level 3 qualification (regardless of employment status and earnings).
If the participant does have a Full Level 3 qualification, to be eligible for the course they must be unemployed* or Employed Earning below London Living Wage of £27,007.50 (as of 23 October 2024).
