Get involved on your estate
The Resident Involvement team work to support our residents and communities on our estates. We support resident, City of London Corporation and partner-led community initiatives, resident consultation and involvement in City of London Housing services and resident communications. We also run two community centres, the Golden Lane Community Centre and the Portsoken Community Centre, with help from two resident and stakeholder advisory boards.
We both run and support our colleagues with resident engagement and consultations on Housing related services and policies. As a few examples, this can be anything from engaging residents in discussions around particular policies via the Housing User Board, supporting workshops and webinars on particular topics or projects, engaging residents in the commissioning process for new services or surveys of resident opinions. We have also worked on developing and co-designing documents and communication materials. The Resident Involvement team also supports our formal Resident Associations on our estates.
The Resident Involvement team also runs two community centres in the City, the Golden Lane Community Centre and the Portsoken Community Centre. These are both run on the same model, with resident and stakeholder advisory boards meeting regularly to discuss the way the centres aims and how it can help meet the needs of the community in which they sit.
Our estates have a range of activities and events that you can be involved in throughout the year. We can also support you to run your own events and activities on your estate. We can also support residents to establish a formal Resident’s Association for the estate if one doesn’t exist. You can also get involved in:
- Volunteering opportunities, such as in one of our community centres
- Earning Time Credits for setting up a group or helping your community through a wide array of activities and volunteering opportunities For full details on how time credits work, where you can earn and spend them, see the We are Tempo website.
- Or why not run your own coffee morning or get together? The team will be there to support you however you need, just get in touch!
- To find out what is happening on your estate please contact your Resident Services Officer, or email the Community Engagement Team
Resident involvement is how you, as a City of London tenant or leaseholder, can influence what services you receive from us. You are the best people to tell us what works well and where we can do better, and your involvement makes a real difference.
Throughout the year we run a number of consultations, surveys and open meetings so you can express your views and opinions.
If you would like to take part in consultations, you can join the Housing User Board. This group are regularly asked to take part in policy reviews, offering their comments and opinions. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, contact the team.
