Works to a tree in a conservation area
Information needed in addition to a letter or the completed planning application forms.
- Two copies of all drawings and any other documents
- Site plan at a scale of 1:500 or 1:1250 scale showing the site and its surroundings. The site boundary must be clearly marked by bold black or red outline or hatching.
- A description of the work proposed and sufficient particulars to identify the trees.
- Photographs can be useful for identification purposes or to show specific work.
Drawings should:
- identify the tree(s) and give a full and clear specification of the works.
- provide information on the tree species and any proposals for planting replacement trees (including quantity, species, position and size) or reasons for not wanting to replant.
Works to a tree covered by a tree preservation order
Information required in addition to the completed planning application forms:
- Two copies of all drawings and any other documents
- Site plan at a scale of 1:500 or 1:1250 scale showing the site and its surroundings. The site boundary must be clearly marked by bold black or red outline or hatching.
- Photographs can be useful for identification purposes or to show specific work.
- Arboriculture report and arboriculture method statement to be accompanied by elevation drawings and photographs.
- Detailing the condition of all the trees.
Drawings should include the information requested on the application form.
A tree that is dead or poses an immediate risk of serious harm
Anyone proposing to cut down or carry out works to a tree with a Tree Preservation Order that is dead or poses an immediate risk of serious harm must give the Local Planning Authority at least five working days’ written notice before carrying out the work, unless there is an immediate risk, in which case as soon as practical after the works become necessary.
The same notice should be given where the tree is in a conservation area.
