Bunhill, Barbican and Golden Lane healthy neighbourhood

The Bunhill, Barbican and Golden Lane healthy neighbourhood plan aims to prioritise street space for people walking, cycling and using public transport. It will make these unique neighbourhoods more vibrant and successful places where people can lead active and healthy lives.

As part of a joint project between the City of London and Islington Council, we held a public consultation seeking people’s views on the draft plan in late 2024.

Over 1,000 people took part in the consultation, and we are now analysing responses to the consultation and will report to the City of London Committee Streets and Walkways sub-committee in spring 2025.

What is a healthy streets approach?

The Mayor of London’s Transport Strategy and the City of London’s Transport Strategy have adopted the Healthy Streets Approach, which puts human health and experience at the heart of planning and managing our Streets.

We are developing and adopting Healthy Streets plans for different areas in the City.
