The Taskforce is split into 4 Workstreams in partnership with industry leaders Accenture, Oliver Wyman, Alan Turing Institute and BNY. These workstreams are designed to drive action and attention around supporting women from non-technical backgrounds to pivot to digital roles.

Workstream 1, Employers:

Partnered with Oliver Wyman, this workstream is comprised of over 60 financial and professional services and tech employers. Their goal is to equip businesses with the tools to attract, retain and upskill women from non-technical backgrounds into digital careers.

Workstream Objectives:

  • Encourage businesses to reskill female employees into digital roles, especially those at risk of redundancy.
  • Highlight the business case for upskilling/ reskilling and hiring from non-traditional routes as well as understand their future digital skills needs.
  • Identify cultural changes needed to recruit and retain women.

Workstream 2, Providers: In partnership with Accenture, consists of over 60 training providers, nonprofits, women’s networks, and local government. This workstream focuses on providing practical tools to third sector organisations and local government to better attract/retrain women from non-technical backgrounds into digital careers.

Workstream Objectives:

  • Offer tools to organisations to support and reskill women from non-technical backgrounds.
  • Understand the barriers to upskilling, map out career pathways, and showcase role models.
  • Connect programs across the UK, ensuring inclusivity for underrepresented groups.

Workstream 3, Influencing policy: This workstream, partnered with the Alan Turing Institute includes over 20 academics and policy experts. Their mission is to work with government and regulators to advocate for funding and using existing/develop new policy levers to greater support female career changers.

Workstream Objectives:

  • Policy Recommendations: Develop a Taskforce Manifesto with key policy recommendations for government and champion the recommendations with government.
  • Political Engagement: Develop links with government departments and functions.
