Building an immigration system for the future of work

The Government is implementing a new immigration system, due to come into effect from January 2021. With the UK’s competitiveness as a global financial centre in mind, the successful implementation of this new system is of vital importance to the UK’s financial and professional services sectors, two industries that will be at the heart of the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In response, EY and the City of London Corporation have undertaken research with stakeholders representing the UK’s financial and professional services industry. The results of this research are set out in this new report on how the UK can continue to be a top destination for talent. It includes recommendations on how to make the system as smooth and inclusive as possible for employers of all sizes.
