This White Paper, in collaboration with the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA), Impact Investing Institute, and Better Society Capital, highlights how impact-led investment can play a crucial role in achieving the UK Government's ambitious missions, including:

• Kickstart economic growth
• An NHS fit for the future
• Safer streets
• Breakdown barriers to opportunity
• Make Britain a clean energy superpower

The UK is a Centre of Excellence in impact investing and a hub for sustainable finance. With the impact investing market currently valued at £76.8bn, there is significant potential to leverage these strengths to drive economic growth and achieve government goals. 

Key insights include:

• Role of Impact Investors: Impact investors are an untapped source of capital to help deliver these missions. Impact investment is an approach that intends to generate a positive, measurable social and/or environmental impact alongside a financial return, and therefore is aligned with policy objectives.
• Momentum in Impact Capital: There is significant interest from both investors and the Government for social impact to be embedded in decision-making; and the paper showcases over 25 case studies on how this can be done.
• Strategic Recommendations: The white paper proposes 10 recommendations for policymakers and market participants covering: capacity building, increasing funding for impactful businesses, and embedding social impact into business and investment practice.
