Student groups
The following group sessions are suitable for BA and MA students and sessions for PhD students can be arranged on request. We offer three set visits/tours as well as an opportunity to 'create' your own visit/tour using the materials available in the Library.
Introductory visit
A brief introduction to the Library’s history and collections and an illustrated talk by one of our Librarians.
Duration: one hour
Group size: maximum 50
London history
Sources for London History or Sources for Plague and Fire
The visit includes an introduction to the Library, its history and collections and information about using the library, including handling rare books and manuscripts. This is followed by a practical session focused on using the library: a brief tour of the Library reading room and resources and a catalogue-searching and e-resources session.
The students will then be shown a range of primary and secondary sources from the collection.
Duration: two hours
Group size: six minimum 30 maximum
Create your own
We hold collections which are of interest to students on a range of subjects - recent students who have visited include those studying architecture, art and design, business history, English, creative writing, geography, mathematics, politics, and theology.
If our existing London history collections visits are not relevant to your course content, it is possible for the lecturer or visit organiser to create one that is.
