Foreword from the Town Clerk & Chief Executive

This is the first time that the City of London Corporation has a Digital, Data and Technology Strategy that encompasses the entire City Corporation – including our institutions. I am very pleased to present this strategy, which represents a significant step forward in bringing together the wider organisation. This will help us to align technology choices, promote interoperability between our systems and crucially, will allow us to collaborate better across the wider organisation.

This strategy sets out the vision and ambition of the organisation for how we will apply digital, data and technology to enable and enhance our services for the benefit of our people and stakeholders in the Square Mile, London, the UK and beyond.

The strategy is informed by our Corporate Plan 2024-29, which sets out our strategic priorities and outcomes for the next five years. The plan is based on six outcomes:

  • Diverse Engaged Communities
  • Dynamic Economic Growth
  • Leading Sustainable Environment
  • Vibrant Thriving Destination
  • Providing Excellent Services
  • Flourishing Public Spaces

The strategy aims to support and enable the plan by enhancing our digital, data and technology capabilities and offerings. It will not be a static document, but a living and evolving roadmap that will guide our actions and investments over the next five years. It will be supported by a detailed delivery plan, which will outline the specific initiatives, projects, and programmes that will implement the strategy and deliver the benefits and outcomes we envisage.

We recognise that achieving our vision and ambition will require significant transformation and change, both in terms of our digital, data and technology infrastructure and systems, and in terms of our culture and behaviours. We are committed to providing the necessary leadership, governance, and resources to enable and empower our people and stakeholders to embrace and drive this change.

I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the development of this strategy, and I look forward to working with you all to make it a reality.

Working in partnership with all our communities, institutions and spaces, we will shape a fantastic five years ahead, together.

Ian Thomas CBE
Town Clerk and Chief Executive
