2024 to 2029

Mission

Why a Digital, Data, and Technology Strategy matters

To realise the City of London Corporation’s vision of London as a world-class city and a global leader in innovation and sustainability, we must harness the power of digital, data, and technology. These elements are not just tools for efficiency and effectiveness; they are catalysts for transformation and innovation. By embracing a forward-thinking digital, data, and technology strategy, the City Corporation can:

  • Deliver ‘Brilliant Basics’: Provide reliable, secure, and user-friendly services that meet the diverse needs and expectations of our stakeholders.
  • Make data-driven decisions: Utilise data and analytics to inform policy, planning, and delivery, and to measure impact and performance.
  • Innovate and collaborate: Foster a culture of experimentation, learning, and sharing, and partner with other organisations to co-create solutions to complex challenges.
  • Empower our colleagues: Equip our team with the skills, tools, and support they need to work effectively, flexibly, and creatively in the digital age.
  • Enhance our reputation: Showcase our achievements, share insights and best practices, and lead by example in using digital, data, and technology for public good.

The growing importance of digital, data, and technology

Technology is more than a tool; it’s a driver of change in both our professional and personal lives. It enables us to work smarter, faster, and more collaboratively, and to access information and services that were previously out of reach. Every aspect of the City of London Corporation’s operations relies on technology, from booking annual leave to supporting virtual meetings and providing online services.

Technology empowers us to learn new skills, explore interests, and express our creativity. However, it’s constantly evolving. To keep pace with innovation, we must invest in technology that is reliable, secure, adaptable, and user-friendly. We also need to enhance our digital literacy to leverage technology effectively and responsibly. Investing in technology is not just about cost; it’s about value and impact. By doing so, we can boost productivity, efficiency, and quality of work, as well as satisfaction, engagement, and well-being. We can improve communication, collaboration, and innovation with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders, and enhance service delivery and customer experience. Moreover, we can contribute to the social, economic, and environmental development of our communities by using technology for public and social good.

Engaging our people

Our ongoing efforts to enhance digital capabilities are guided by feedback from colleagues across the City of London Corporation. This dialogue helps us understand the balance between technological efficiency and user experience.

Our Digital, Data and Technology Strategy

Through this strategy, we aim to elevate operational efficiency and satisfaction across our organisation. By refining technical support, advancing data management, embracing automation and AI responsibly, unifying technological platforms, and encouraging continuous learning and skill development, we can create a more efficient, responsive, and forward-thinking organisation.
