Emerging from the shadows
Join Philip Scott at Shoe Lane Library for a fascinating talk ‘Emerging from the Shadows: Hidden LGBTQ+ Histories’.
Well over a million people attend Pride, however for much of history LGBT+ people had to live in the shadows due to discriminatory laws and attitudes. This talk sheds light on various people and places in the LGBT+ history of London, hidden from view for many years and in many cases only just being recognised.
Originally from Lancaster in Lancashire, Philip has lived in London for 44 years and continues to be stimulated and fascinated by this amazing city. Having taught mostly History and Politics in east London for 33 years, Philip qualified as a tour guide in 2019 with the City of Westminster qualification. He loves his second career, where he can share his passions and meet lots of interesting people.
Philip specialises in royal and political history, diverse histories, off-beat and quirky London as well as central London’s various neighbourhoods.
This talk will be delivered in person and online. For more information and to book tickets, please click Book Tickets.
