Due to the increasing levels of antisocial behavior between the hours of 5pm and 7pm during the summer, we have decided to continue to open from 9am until 5pm throughout the year. This decision has been made for the safety of our staff and visitors.

Grounds opening times

Monday to Sunday: 9am-5pm

Please note that last entry is 30 minutes before the closing time.

Office opening times

Monday to Friday: 9am-4pm (excluding bank holidays)

Parking

Parking is available for those attending funerals or visiting the cemetery. Please check with our friendly Information and Security team upon arrival and you will be directed to the most convenient place to park. Please observe our rules and regulations with regards to speed limits within the cemetery.

Restrictions

  • Dogs are not permitted on site with the exception of assistance dogs.
  • Third-party tour guides are not permitted to operate within the cemetery grounds.

Access for disabled visitors

  • Wheelchairs and mobility scooters may be borrowed from the main gate
  • Chapels and a desk in the Bereavement Services office are fitted with induction loops
  • Service books are available in braille

Photography

Permission to photograph wildlife on site must be sought at least 48 hours (2 working days) prior to arrival.  Failure to obtain permission by email and follow the general rules and regulations relating to wildlife photography set out below will result in photographers being asked to leave the site.

Rules and Regulations

  • Permission must be sought prior to arrival by email within 48 hours (2 working days) of requested date, stating day, time and area to be photographed.
  • Permission will be granted depending on burial and service bookings on that day.
  • The City of London reserve the right to decline requests if it is felt that such activity will have a detrimental and disruptive effect on the main business activity on site or the wildlife in question.
  • Photographs must NOT include people in them, this includes both staff and members of the public, especially those visiting graves or attending services.
  • Photographers must be respectful of the area, if persons are seen walking on, resting on graves or using graves to place equipment on they will be asked to leave the site immediately.
  • If members of the public using the site for a service or visiting graves complain about the behaviour/conduct of the photographed, they will be asked to leave the site immediately.
  • The site staff have the discretion to remove photographers at any time if it is deemed that their behaviour is a nuisance, disrespectful and/or affecting the day-to-day operation of the cemetery and crematorium as per Article 3(1) of the Local Authorities' Cemeteries Order 1977.
  • Photographs must not be used for financial gain. If a photographer’s work is found to have been used for such gain, then they will not be permitted entry into the site again. All commercial photography must be permitted by the City of London Filming team and authorised by the City of London Cemetery. Where possible such works would be preferred outside the opening hours of the cemetery and crematorium.
  • Strictly no drone usage is permitted on site.

The City of London reserves the right to permanently prevent photographers from entering the site if they have previously been found to be disrespectful and not followed the rules and regulations
