Birch Wood
Birch Wood and surrounding Oak Hill make up a hilly swath of old coppice woodland that was once part of Theydon Estate - crossed here and there with streams, dotted with bogs and broken up with occasional meadow plains, it often makes for picturesque scenes.
Things to do in Birch Wood
- Explore the Wood on foot, by bike, on horseback or with your dog
- Walk north to explore iron age Ambresbury Banks and pick up our Oak Trail
- Head east to catch glimpses of the deer in our Deer Sanctuary - please note, the Sanctuary is not open to the public
- Bring your camera along and try to capture the unique landscape of the Wood
- Keep an eye out for wild deer, woodpeckers and other Forest wildlife
